Today is the 80th Anniversary of D-Day in Normandy, France and a small little beach town in Florida played a big part in the invasion.
In 1943, here in Carrabelle Beach also known as Camp Gordon Johnson over 250,000 infantry divisions of the U.S. Army trained for the Normandy and Philippines Invasions.
The 165-acre camp and 20 miles of coastline is located on U.S. 98 North, 60 minutes south of Tallahassee.
I walked the beach and paid my respect to the men and women who sacrificed their lives for our Freedom and this place had a lot to do with winning the war.
Also this is the hometown of Baseball Hall of Famer Buck O’Neil
I left my footprints God Bless America
