The Ghost’s of the Omni Parker House
The Omni Parker House in Boston is famous for its history, culinary contributions, and ghostly legends.
One of the most intriguing connections is with the renowned author Stephen King. The hotel is said to have been inspired by King’s short story “1408”, about a haunted hotel room.
Room 303 in the Omni Parker House is particularly famous for its paranormal activity. Guests have reported strange shadows, unexplained noises, and even the bathtub water turning on by itself.
The room was eventually turned into a storage closet due to the numerous reports of hauntings.
Stephen King often stayed at the Omni Parker House when visiting Boston for Red Sox games.
During one of these visits, he heard about the haunting of Room 303 and decided to write a short story based on it.
The Omni Parker House in Boston is also home to a famous mirror with a fascinating history. This mirror is associated with the renowned author Charles Dickens, who stayed at the hotel during his second tour of the United States in 1867-1868.
Dickens used the mirror to practice his readings, including those from “A Christmas Carol”.
The mirror is from the suite where Dickens stayed, specifically rooms 138-139. It is around four feet wide and six feet tall, mounted in an intricately carved walnut frame.
Guests have reported seeing the ghostly figure of Charles Dickens practicing his readings in front of the mirror. This has led to the mirror being considered haunted.
The mirror is now displayed at the end of a corridor on the hotel’s Mezzanine. It is accompanied by brass plaques that provide historical context.
The Omni Parker House is considered one of the most haunted hotels in Boston, with numerous reports of ghostly apparitions and unexplained phenomena throughout its history.
After visiting the mirror and room 303 and other haunted locations in the hotel I went back to my room also on the third floor. I have a new rule that I do not write or post about ghosts and their location in hotels until I check out. I have had my phone and computer frozen a couple of times until I left.
Then, the fire alarm went off in the hotel and announcements were made and everyone in the hotel had to evacuate the hotel by descending the stairs.
After 30 minutes the hotel announced that it wall clear and everyone could go back to their rooms I went and got something to eat.
